Social Media Expert - July 2009

Our community management team share 20 gems to help develop a thriving online space in this 4-part series.

Quality1. Put quality before quantity

Before you can start to increase yield from your advertisers, stop chasing "eyeballs" and consider engaging communities.

Audience2. Always start with the audience

When planning a new or redeveloped website start with your audience and not with the technology.

3. Engage outside your space

Encourage your audience to signpost good stuff outside the confines of your own site.

Meet up4. Go and meet your audience

Meet your audience wherever they are by adding value to their existing conversations - wherever that environment is.

Trap5. Avoid the "me too" trap

Don't fall into the "me too" trap developing an online offering that is indistiguishable from your competition particularly if your competition is the incumbent brand.
