Goodbye Victoria Street

100 Victoria StreetOur orange paint was shiny and new when we moved in to 100 Victoria Street nearly ten years ago, but we’re bursting at the seams now and so it’s time to move on. Things have changed hugely in the last decade. Technology has come and gone, we've changed our name from time to time, and there have been ups and downs, but there's a sense of excitement and optimism around the office at the moment as we look forward to a new beginning, although perhaps without the orange paint.

Although the 600 or so websites we host are a few miles away in our data centre and so will not be affected by the move, the infrastructure that allows us to develop and support sites for our clients is large and complicated and involves several racks, a lot of Cat 5 and many other things I don't understand. Fortunately our operations team know them intimately and have worked long and hard to ensure the minimum possible disruption to colleagues and clients alike.

It's not the desks, chairs and carpet that make an office, just as it's not the widgets, mashups and tweets that make a community. It's the people.

I look forward to welcoming many of you to our new place, and introducing you to some of our people. I think you'll like them.
